7/22 Allow Google Meet participants to ask questions or respond to polls anonymously

Modified on Wed, 21 Dec 2022 at 09:14 AM

19.7.2022 I Google Meet
Google Meet now allows meeting participants an anonymous way to ask questions or participate in a survey organized during the meeting. The feature is automatically visible to participants in the comment field as a reply method, but can be disabled by the meeting host or co-host. In polls, the anonymous response method is automatically turned off, but can be turned on when creating it.

To turn on Q&A

  1.  In the meeting, tap the screen and then Menu  and then Host Controls

  2. Scroll to "Meeting Activities" and turn on Allow Questions in Q&A Toggle ON.

Tip: By default, questions can be asked anonymously. To disallow this, uncheck Allow Anonymous questions Toggle Off .

Ask a question

When you ask a question, everyone in the meeting gets a notification.

When you ask a question anonymously, your details are hidden from:

  • Other meeting participants

  • The moderators

  • Your Workspace Admin

The feature can be used for example in large meetings, where the possibility to answer anonymously can encourage participants to participate in the discussion.
